Get the popcorn out: The coming week will be a festival for tech enthusiasts like us. Because with Apple, Samsung, and Google, three massive names meet with their events.

Something like this happens very rarely: three tech giants vie for your attention simultaneously and hold events on consecutive days. So that you can prepare yourself for the exciting next week, we have created a small overview for you.

Apple Makes The Start

It starts on October 18 with the Apple event, which has been official since yesterday. The new iPhones are long out of the bag, but one or the other ace is still up to your sleeve in California. According to experts, we can expect, among other things, a completely redesigned MacBook Pro, which should come up with a super chip, a 120 Hz display, and a diagonal screen that is new for Apple.
While the MacBook Pro (here with a contract) is currently available in 13 and 16 inches, from now on, there will also be a 14-inch version. In addition, the AirPods 3 could be seen at the Apple event.

Google’s New Smartphones Are Coming.

One day after Apple, Google will do the honors. The focus here is also an open secret: The search engine giant is finally introducing its new smartphones. The company has already anticipated one of the most important details: what the devices will look like. The manufacturer has long since revealed that.

From this video, among other things, we know that the Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro will attract attention with an unusual camera design. What remains to be seen so far is what smartphones will offer under the hood and what they will cost. Rumor has it that the standard model goes on sale at an attractive price. The Google Pixel 6 Pro, on the other hand, should be significantly more expensive but also offer a lot more.

What Is Samsung Up to?

While we have relatively good ideas about what Apple and Google are planning, we’re not quite as sure about Samsung. The hottest candidate among the Samsung smartphones expected shortly is the Galaxy S21 FE. Which the Samsung event (October 20) for possibly something comes too early. The premiere of the Galaxy S22, which the manufacturer should not present before December at the earliest, is even less likely.

Samsung calls the event “Galaxy Unpacked Part 2,” which could mean that the South Koreans would instead submit something later than present it entirely from scratch. A theory circulating on the net: You may be able to design the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Z Fold 3 according to your ideas when you buy them. For example, it should be possible to choose different colors for the front and back.

Just like the dinosaurs once did, smartphones have gotten bigger and bigger. That is nice for the film show on the go. But some people long for a handy device that is technically not inferior to the giants. Well, you can find these compact smartphones on our leaderboard.

The Smartphone Market Is Growing.

How quickly times change. It wasn’t that long ago that the Samsung Galaxy Note caused a sensation due to its size alone. The smartphone released in October 2011 came with a 5.3-inch display. The screen was considered gigantic. Nowadays, most users would probably reject the smartphone – just because of the display size. It is puny by today’s standards. The average smartphone panel has a diagonal of 6.5 inches. Several models even scratch the 7-inch mark.

It is important to you to be able to operate your device with one hand without any problems. But there are also those users who value precisely this in addition to performance, features, and battery life: a small display that goes hand in hand with a compact smartphone format. The good news: The manufacturers are also taking into account the demands of these users and are bringing comparatively small smartphones onto the market that are in no way inferior to the giants in terms of performance and features. The handy format of the first iPhone (2007) surpasses the small smartphones.

What Is Essential When It Comes To An Excellent Compact Smartphone?

If you are looking for a small smartphone that you can use easily with one hand, you will mostly orient yourself to the size of the display. But the screen size only tells half the story. The external dimensions of a cell phone determine whether you can command it with one hand. Above all, the width is decisive. The current smartphones are, on average, 7.5 centimeters wide. That sounds quite acceptable on paper. But practice shows that the devices are too wide for most hands to be controlled with one hand. So compact smartphones have to be narrower. And they shouldn’t be slippery. Otherwise, your thumb won’t reach the top of the display.

Don’t worry. You don’t have to go out and compare smartphone dimensions. We have done that for you and present you with an overview of the best compact smartphones. Our small cell phones shine with first-class performance and luxurious features. This is how you can quickly find your small smartphone.

These Are The Best Compact Smartphones.

When selecting the best compact smartphones, we looked at the dimensions. Width is the first decisive indicator. The maximum value is 72 millimeters. In doing so, we apply the same criteria as the experts at Computerbild. In addition, the length of our best compact smartphones is limited to 160 millimeters.

But the size alone does not make an excellent tiny smartphone. After all, what good is a compact format if you can’t do what you want with the device? Therefore, performance and equipment were also included in our rating. If you have delicate fingers, you should keep an eye out for those devices that even stay below the magical 70-millimeter mark. Someone with slightly larger hands will certainly have no difficulty using models just above this brand with one hand. And that brings us to our list of the best compact smartphones, the leaders of which are certainly hardly surprising.

1 – iPhone 13 mini

The iPhone 13 mini is a powerhouse in small format. The smallest iPhone is 64.2 millimeters wide, 131.5 millimeters long, and 7.6 millimeters thin. These are the guards against which all compact smartphones currently have to be measured. No cell phone in our leaderboard is smaller. The iPhone 13 mini is incredibly powerful, as it has the same features as the iPhone 13. The iPhone 13 mini is just smaller. A nice side effect for fans of compact smartphones: the 5.4-inch OLED display of the mini is the sharpest in the iPhone 13 series.

2 – Samsung Galaxy S21

Silver in our ranking of the best compact smartphones goes to the world market leader from South Korea. The Samsung Galaxy S21 from the technology giant’s current flagship series scores first-class equipment and top performance. When it comes to camera setup, the Galaxy S21 is even ahead. After all, Samsung uses three lenses. In addition to a wide-angle and an ultra-wide-angle, a telephoto lens is on board. The Koreans are also ahead when it comes to the display, as they rely on a fast 120 Hertz refresh rate. Apple only offers this in the Pro models. The Samsung smartphone has to admit defeat in terms of its compact format. With a width of 71.2 millimeters, a length of 151.7 centimeters, and a height of 7.9 millimeters, it is by no means as handy for delicate fingers as the front-runner iPhone 13 mini.

3 – Asus Zenfone 8

A representative from the niche has sneaked onto the podium of our list of the best small smartphones: Asus is genuinely not an unknown name in the technology industry. Among the smartphone manufacturers, the Taiwanese group is small compared to big names like Apple & Samsung. Asus is best known for the designated gaming smartphones of the ROG Phone series. But the company also produces excellent luxury cell phones, as demonstrated once again with the Zenfone 8. The Zenfone is replete with top-notch technology. And they come in a convenient, handy format. The Zenfone 8 measures 148 millimeters in length, is only 68.5 millimeters wide and is 8.9 millimeters thick. This makes it extremely good, especially in tiny hands. The camera equipment prevents the compact Asus smartphone from being positioned even better. No question about it. The Zenfone 8 takes excellent pictures. But the other two make it even better.

4 – Sony Xperia 5 III

The Sony Xperia 5 III owes its handiness above all to its 21: 9 cinema format. The Sony smartphone is particularly narrow despite a 6.1-inch screen diagonal. It measures 68 millimeters wide, is 157 millimeters long, and is 8.2 millimeters thin. With the flagship models, including the Xperia 5 III, the Japanese technology giant shows its wide-ranging expertise: The OLED display is first-class, the audio quality of the stereo speakers is fantastic, and there is also a jack for headphones – a rare feature in the smartphone upper class. And when setting up the camera, Sony primarily thought of those photo enthusiasts who like to break away from automatic modes. With the Xperia 5 III, you can define all the settings yourself like a pro and take precisely the photo you have in mind.

5 – iPhone 13 Pro

Usually, Pro models are pretty bumpy. Not so with Apple: The iPhone 13 Pro delivers high-end performance in a compact format. The iPhone 13 Pro has precisely the exact dimensions as its sister model iPhone 13. It is 146.7 millimeters long, 71.5 millimeters wide, and 7.65 millimeters thin. At Apple, the Pro initially stands for a lot more features. That is why Apple’s Pro model also lands ahead of the iPhone 13 in our list of the best small smartphones. More goes hand in hand with more weight: the iPhone 13 Pro weighs a proud 203 grams, while the sister model weighs in at just 173 grams.

6 – iPhone 13

Even without mini in its name, the iPhone 13 is a small smartphone from the large mobile phone army. Apple’s base model measures 146.7 millimeters in length, 71.5 millimeters in width, and is 7.65 millimeters thin. This means that it is not quite as handy for delicate hands as the iPhone 13 mini, but it is still very compact and suitable for users who want both: a relatively large and magnificent display and a handy format. In terms of performance and features, the iPhone 13 is inferior to the mini model. The iPhone 13 even outperforms its smaller sister model when it comes to battery life: it lasts two and a half hours longer than its predecessor, the iPhone 12. The mini manages one and a half hours more than its predecessor.

7 – Sony Xperia 10 III

The Sony Xperia 10 III is not only a compact smartphone but also a relatively inexpensive one. It has extensive equipment. Like the other Sony smartphones, the Xperia 10 III lies so comfortably in hand primarily because of the 21: 9 cinema format. With a length of 154 millimeters, it is even shorter than its more expensive sister model, the Xperia 5 III. The width of the Xperia x10 III is 68 millimeters. At 6 inches, the OLED display is not only a comfortable size for a small smartphone. The panel can also be convincing in terms of color accuracy, contrast, and sharpness. But the Sony mobile phone with its IP68 protection stands out from the field of mid-range smartphones. The certified protection against the ingress of water and dust can hardly be found in this price range.

8 – iPhone SE

It should be an iPhone in a handy format, but not at the usual iPhone price? Then the hour for the iPhone SE strikes. The design of the cheapest iPhone is reminiscent of the popular iPhone 8. This includes the wide bezels at the top and bottom, as well as the physical home button. The display shrinks to 4.7 inches. Although the iPhone SE is 138.4 millimeters long, 67.3 millimeters wide, and 7.3 millimeters tall than the iPhone 13 mini, its screen is significantly smaller. The entry-level iPhone shines with excellent performance. This is hardly surprising because the A13 Bionic chip works inside the iPhone SE and powers the iPhone 11 Pro. Otherwise, the iPhone SE lags behind the features of the other compact smartphones in our list of the best. It only has to get by with a rear camera and an LC display, and it does not yet transmit over the 5G network. In return, the iPhone SE can at least be charged wirelessly and already supports the WiFi 6 standard.

OnePlus has not missed the appointment set on the calendar, and the new OnePlus Nord CE 5G is now official. We had attended various rumors and leaks, which had cleared up some doubts, but only now can we see the new OnePlus smartphone in all its glory. The device arrives to position itself in the mid-range as one of the best options of the year. Will you make it?

The OnePlus 9 are positioned as the most potent OnePlus phone for this year. Meanwhile, the Nord family is trying to gain a foothold in a price range that until now had been left deserted for OnePlus, but which they have now decided to occupy with force. The new OnePlus Nord CE 5G is a recent example of this strategy, which wants to surprise its good quality/price ratio.

Features of The OnePlus Nord CE 5G

The first thing we notice is that the screen standard is repeated, with a size of 6.43 inches. This panel has AMOLED technology and a rate of 90 Hz, being compatible with HDR10 +. It is striking that OnePlus has managed to compact the terminal admirably since it is only 7.9mm thick and weighs 170 grams.

Inside we find the Snapdragon 750G, a mid-range processor with good performance and responsible for providing 5G to this device. OnePlus has decided that the Nord CE 5G will arrive in three RAM variants, with 6GB, 8GB, and 12GB, along with two internal storage versions with 128GB and 256GB. On the back, we find a triple camera with a 64-megapixel primary sensor, an 8-megapixel wide-angle sensor, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. On the front and housed in a hole, it sports a 16-megapixel selfie sensor.

Another of its strengths is the battery, since it reaches 4,500 mAh, being compatible with fast charging that allows charging up to 70% of its capacity in just 30 minutes. Unfortunately, the terminal lacks any primary wireless connections and luckily maintains the 3.5mm headphone jack. It hits the market with OxygenOS based on Android 11.

Arrival

As we say, OnePlus will market this terminal in three different versions of RAM and Blue Void, Charcoal Ink, and Silver Ray colors. We will inform you as soon as we have the terminals in our online store with their corresponding prices. In the meantime, we invite you to look at the many other OnePlus devices currently priced to break.

The path to success is not a straight line, and we cannot disagree on the ways Realme manifested itself. What started as a mere sub-brand of Oppo became a fully-fledged independent company in 2018.

It further expanded into several markets, including India, and has been touted as one of the world’s youngest smartphone manufacturers. According to Counterpoint Research, the brand grew by a massive 848% last year.

Realme hit the market with its latest edition, C3, and it has proved to be boon for price-sensitive users. Valued at just Rs 7,999, the smartphone looks elegant and at the same time improves the user experience.

Let us take a closer look at how Realme mobiles are dominating the industry.

Business strategy

Realme follows an aggressive go-to-market strategy that involves launching several industry-first features with strong design language. This has resonated well among young consumers as they seek value-for-money devices.

Believes in building strong relationships

Realme promises affordable technology to woo value-conscious Indian millennials. This has helped the brand build a strong relationship with over a million consumers, 1000+ brand stores, and nearly 30,000 promoters across the country.

Collaborated with PaySa

Not content with just phone sales, Realme ventured into financial services platform, PaySa, in 2019. This collaboration aimed to help those Indian users who still do not have access to formal credit.

The platform provides digital loans to individuals and small and medium enterprises. While personal loans range between Rs 8K-1lakh, SME loans can go up to Rs 5 lakh. It also offers flexible repayment cycles of 12 to 60 months. Furthermore, Realme pre-installs the PaySa app on its devices to expedite customer acquisition.

Offline only series

The company intends to roll out an offline-only series for India soon. Aimed at the mid-premium range, this series will focus more on all-rounder user experiences such as a better battery, touch, feel, outstanding performance, and trendy design. This initiative is primarily for offline customers. The goal is to make Realme a tech lifestyle brand rather than just a smartphone brand.

Highest ownership share

From a measly 0.30 percent share in 2018, Realme held 10 percent representation among survey respondents in 2019, and that shows how quickly this brand has grown, and to what extent. Catering to users’ spec obsession in the affordable segment with devices featuring attractive designs and even more attractive price tags, the brand is driving the popularity wave.

For instance, the app-launch time and RAM usage in the brand-new Realme C3 are reduced by 14% and 20% respectively, whereas battery life has been increased by 40%. This smartphone also features reverse charging which is the icing on the cake. That is one can even use it as a power bank to charge other devices.

Despite the brand being India’s fourth-largest smartphone seller, Realme feels it is just getting started.

Interested buyers can now purchase products on easy EMIs. All they have to do is use their Bajaj Finserv EMI Network Card. It also comes with a pre-approved loan offer of up to Rs 4 lakh.

The Bajaj Finserv EMI Store is an online store that features products across varying categories like mobile phones, tablets, home appliances, gaming and accessories, wearables and watches, cameras, music and audio devices, and many more. It offers super flexible repayment tenor of 3 to 24 months.

Bajaj Finserv possesses a network of 1 lakh+ store across India.

So, what are you waiting for? Go ahead and make the most of the available offers with the Bajaj Finserv EMI Network Card. Log in to Bajaj Finserv EMI Store to get your favorite Realme phone on easy EMIs.

Everything we own is the product of loads of people working together to create something incredible.

A good example of this is our phones – one of the greatest inventions to date. A mini-computer that we can carry around in our pockets that keeps us in contact with our friends, the world around us, and helps us carry our own memories too.

In fact, it’s difficult to think of a modern-day life without having constant access to the world through the tap of a button. This has made life easier, and knowledge far more attainable. It has created millions of jobs and the potential for an incredible future. However, not many people know the professions that contribute to the making of a mobile phone.

The truth is, there are so many little jobs and tasks to do to make a mobile phone, it’s difficult to list them all. You have everything, from the scientists that do all of the drop tests and work all of the chemical reactions for the batteries to work to the users who keep the business funded and well run.

They all have their parts to play in the making of a mobile phone, and here are three professions you might not have known were involved with the phone making process.

1 Graphic Designers

Graphic designers were involved in almost all elements of making your mobile phone. This can be the design of the packaging to the phone itself, the layout of the screen, and even the available fonts on the phone itself.

Graphic design is almost in every aesthetic aspect of your phone and helps make everything sleek and smooth. It’s a job used massively throughout the process, including the advertisements that you see after the phone has been launched and the website you go to visit to purchase.

It is probably one of the most overlooked of the larger professions in the making of a mobile phone and carries the whole project forward in both advertising and in the physical makeup of the phone.

2 Electrical Engineers

Electrical engineers were another huge part of making your phone. While the graphic designers are hard at work making the phone look and feel nice, the electrical engineers are making it actually work.

They are busy with testing, designing the hardware, and making sure the fiddly bits, such as tantalum capacitors work. They help the hardware of your mobile work and stop it from breaking, as well as ensure all the materials that are being used are beneficial to the wellbeing of the hardware.

3 Software Installation Teams

Software installation teams are the people who install the software on your phones, such as Microsoft or IOS. These help the phones run and keep your digital identity on the phone itself, as well as also helping it run smoothly. Most of this software is proprietary software, meaning that they are copyrighted by the companies that make the phones, for example, IOS is proprietary software of Apple

Samsung continues to renew its different ranges of terminals for this year. In a few days, the new Samsung Galaxy Note 20 will arrive, one of the most anticipated terminals of the year. Meanwhile, the Korean company has presented in India its new mid-range terminal, the Samsung Galaxy M31s, which stands out for the presence of four rear cameras and one of the largest and most powerful batteries to date.

Technical characteristics of the Samsung Galaxy M31s

The Samsung Galaxy M31s comes with a large screen, which reaches 6.5 inches. It has an AMOLED type panel and FullHD + resolution. It has very well optimized frames, as well as the presence of a perforated hole in the upper central part, where its 32-megapixel front camera is housed. Thanks to this, the screen occupies a large part of the total phone. In addition, it incorporates a fingerprint reader, but not on the screen, but is housed on the side, just above the on / off button.

Inside the device, we find a processor manufactured by Samsung, specifically the Exynos 9611, which is accompanied by two versions of 6 or 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage, which we can expand through the use of microSD cards up to 512 GB. Moving the entire system we find Android 10, along with the Korean manufacturer’s customization layer, One UI, in its latest version 2.1.

Four cameras and 6,000 mAh battery

Regarding the photographic section, we find that Samsung has equipped the new Galaxy M31s with a quad rear camera. This complete set of cameras consists of a 64 megapixel (f / 1.8) Sony IMX682 main sensor, along with a 12-megapixel wide-angle lens that reaches 123 degrees, a depth sensor, as well as a macro sensor, both of 5 megapixels. These cameras have functions such as night hyper-lapse or the ability to switch between cameras when we were recording video.

Without a doubt, the most differential point of this terminal is its battery that reaches the spectacular figure of 6,000 mAh, including a fast charge of 25W. With this spectacular battery, we should not have problems to be able to reach three days of use without any problems. In addition, it has a reverse charging function, so we can use it as a power bank and charge other devices.

Availability

The new Samsung Galaxy M31s has been presented in India where it will go on sale on August 6 in blue and gray, in 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 128GB versions. At the moment the company has not reported its possible international departure, so we will keep you informed as soon as there is any news in this regard.

While the Apple iPhone Pro 11 has become the first iPhone to go for a triple rear camera system, the ZenFone 6 from Asus stands out for offering a motorized dual-camera module that works as both a primary and secondary camera. The Honor 20 Pro and Huawei Mate 30 Pro also has a place in this article. The first places special emphasis on its photographic section, and the second draws attention (among many other details) for integrating a 6.53-inch OLED screen with an 88º curvature.

As for the LG G8X ThinQ Dual Screen, the most outstanding thing is its system of two 6.4-inch screens (also OLED) joined by a 360º hinge to enhance multitasking. The cases of Motorola (with its Razr) and Samsung (from the hand of the newcomer Galaxy Z Flip) are special when giving a twist to the classic shell-shaped terminal from a few years ago but adapted to today.

Smartphones In 2020

Apple iPhone 11 Pro

It is the first iPhone in history to integrate a triple rear camera that combines an ultra-wide-angle, a wide-angle and a telephoto lens.

Matte textured glass and stainless steel design for the apple company’s latest flagship to date. Although we have focused on the Pro version, there is another one called Pro Max. Both are almost identical and the main difference is that the screen of the latter is slightly larger, 6.5 inches, and its resolution slightly higher. Having a larger panel, the dimensions and weight of the iPhone 11 Pro Max are also: 158 x 77.8 x 8.1 mm, and 226 gr.

Certified with the IP68 protection level, the screen is a 5.36-inch Super Retina XDR panel with 2,436 x 1,125 pixels of resolution that stands out for its brightness and counting, being able to enjoy the HDR content. Its nerve center is chaired by the A13 Bionic chip and also incorporates a CPU and GPU up to 20% faster than those used by the A12 chip. The capacities of the A13 Bionic chip are so high that it has been designed for machine learning; in fact, the new machine learning accelerators it implements allow the CPU to process more than 1 trillion operations per second. The operating system you have installed in iOS 13.

The operating system is Android 9 and it is combined with a new redesigned interface for smoother user experience. This interface, which has been dubbed ZenUI 6, has a cleaner appearance and provides faster and smoother movements. Also noteworthy is the presence of OptiFlex. This functionality accelerates application recharges and recharges and saves power in standby mode by recognizing the user’s favorite applications.
